Struggling Italian lender Banca Carige SpA has been given roughly a month by the ECB to find another buyer after U.S. asset manager BlackRock Inc. withdrew its takeover bid, Reuters reported, citing a source close to the matter.
However, another source told the news agency that the central bank gave Carige's temporary administrators only a few more days to seek a buyer after a May 17 deadline lapsed with no solution. A range of rescue options has been touted for Carige, including a state-backed recapitalization, nationalization or even resolution.
