Community Health Systems to sell 5 hospitals in Pennsylvania

Community Health Systems Inc. units agreed to sell five Pennsylvania hospitals and associated assets to subsidiaries of Reading Health System.

The hospitals in the transaction are: Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville, Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia, Jennersville Hospital in West Grove, Phoenixville Hospital in Phoenixville and Pottstown Memorial Medical Center in Pottstown.

The five hospitals are part of a planned divestiture of 30 hospitals.

The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2017, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
