Chinese mobile payment platform Alipay will be rolled out in Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and the Philippines to connect merchants with app users while they are traveling overseas, Retail News Asia reported April 2.
Alipay, which is owned by Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. affiliate Ant Financial Services Group, is already accepted in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville in Cambodia for entertainment shopping and dining payments, according to the newswire.
The platform will also be launched in Dufry AG-managed duty-free stores at Phnom Penh International Airport, Siem Reap International Airport and NagaCorp Ltd.'s entertainment complex NagaWorld in Cambodia, the report said.
Alipay has an estimated 520 million active users in China, the report added.
