AMP Capital revamps Australia equities biz to focus on long-term demand

AMP Ltd. unit AMP Capital Investors Ltd. reshuffled its Australia equities business to focus on areas with long-term demand.

The company said Oct. 11 that it will move to a model where its Australian equities fund managers operate in three focused teams. The teams will manage equity income, small caps and systematic products.

AMP Capital will no longer offer benchmark-aware, core Australian equities products. The investment processes for the equity income and small cap strategies are unchanged.

Genevieve Murray has been appointed to lead the new team as AMP Capital head of Australian equities and systematic co-portfolio manager. She will join the company Oct. 16 from Macquarie Group Ltd., where she was most recently head of research within the group's banking and financial services.

Michael Price, head of Australian fundamental equities, will leave the company.

The changes are effective immediately.
