Taiwan MobileCo. Ltd. and Finland-based Nokia Corp. signed a memorandum of understanding tojointly develop 5G technology, The ChinaPost reported July 24.
Under the terms of the MOU, the companies will focus ondeveloping technology in 5G wireless service, the Internet of Things andspectrum arrangement.
Taiwan Mobile and Nokia also agreed to team up on testingproducts, holding seminars, visiting 5G research and development centers, andconnecting with 5G pioneers, according to the report.
The Taiwanese telcoalso reportedly said it would step up its research on 5G technology in thesecond half of this year, with an eye toward being the first to offer wireless5G service in the country.
