Netflix Inc.ordered a new animated comedy, "Pacific Heat," from company Working Dog Productions, Varietyreported Sept. 29.
The streaming company reportedly gave a 13-episode order tothe series. "Pacific Heat" is a satire on cop shows and follows aunit of undercover police investigators' squad, called Pacific Heat, working inGold Coast, Australia. The series features various criminals including drugsmugglers, biker gangs, eco-terrorists and the person who invented frozenyogurt, according to the report. The squad has no qualms about working outsidethe law while dealing with criminals.
The show will debut on Netflix on Dec. 2 in ,Ireland,the United Kingdom, and the U.S. The series will premiere inlate 2016 in Australia with FOXTELas its television partner.
"Pacific Heat" is created by Santo Cilauro, TomGleisner and Rob Sitch of Working Dog Productions, with Sitch also giving hisvoice talents to the project, according to the report.
Netflix and Working Dog have previously worked together forthe workplace comedy "Dreamland," which is available on Netflix.
