Kroger to launch own range of plant-based products

Kroger Co. on Sept. 5 unveiled an array of plant-based food products under the private label Simple Truth.

The Simple Truth Plant Based collection includes a variety of animal-free items such as burger patties, grinds, cookie dough, pasta sauces, sausages, deli slices, cheeses and dips.

"As more of our customers embrace a flexitarian lifestyle, choosing to prioritize healthier food choices and reduce their environmental footprint, we are excited to meet their needs," Kroger's vice president of Our Brands, Gil Phipps, said in a statement.

The Simple Truth Plant Based collection will be rolled out in stages through 2020, the U.S. grocer said.
