New Senior Investment Group Chairman and director Wesley Edens resigned Jan. 2 from the board of the seniors housing real estate investment trust, following the internalization of the company's management.

The REIT officially terminated its management agreement with an affiliate of Fortress Investment Group LLC on Dec. 31. Edens is a principal, co-founder, director and co-CEO of Fortress.
