Brazil court strikes down Norsk Hydro's appeal to resume full ops at Alunorte

A Brazilian court struck down Norsk Hydro ASA's appeal to restart full operations at its Alunorte alumina refinery in the country due to possible environmental damage, Reuters reported March 6.

The company was seeking an injunction against a directive to cut the refinery's output by 50%. It then declared force majeure at the operation March 2.

Norsk Hydro is unsure about when it would be permitted to resume full operations at the site, CEO Richard Brandtzæg said.
