Gannett cutting 141 jobs in New Jersey

Gannett Co Inc. is laying off 141 employees across its recently acquired North Jersey Media Group, The Associated Press reported Jan. 23.

The layoffs will occur across various assets in New Jersey including The Record, the Herald News of Passaic County and NorthJersey.com, according to the report. The company is taking the action in an effort to reorganize the group.

Gannett in October 2016 revealed its plan to cut about 2% of its workforce as the company looks to expand its reach and consolidate its local news business.
