Report: Arab Bank chairman detained in Saudi Arabia

Arab Bank Group Chairman Sabih al-Masri has been detained in Saudi Arabia for questioning after traveling to Riyadh for a business trip, Reuters reported, citing the billionaire's "family sources and friends."

Masri, a Saudi citizen of Palestinian origin, had been discouraged from flying to Saudi Arabia due to a recent corruption crackdown that targeted the country's elites, Reuters said. A "source familiar with the matter" said Masri has been answering questions about his business and partners, but did not confirm if he was held.

Aside from Arab Bank, Masri also serves as the chairman of Astra Industrial Group, Palestine Telecommunications Co. Plc and Zara Investment Holding Co.
