S&P Global Market Intelligence presents a weekly news summary of executive management and board chair-level changes in the bank and thrift industry.

Dec. 14

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. has named David Solomon and Harvey Schwartz as presidents and co-COOs of the company, replacing Gary Cohn, who is leaving the investment bank to direct the National Economic Council in the Trump administration.

Schwartz is the company's CFO, and will remain in this position until April 2017, when the company's chief information officer R. Martin Chavez takes over as deputy CFO.

Solomon is the co-head of the investment banking division.

Also, Richard Gnodde and Pablo Salame were named as vice chairmen of the company, effective Jan. 1, 2017.

Providence, R.I.-based Citizens Financial Group Inc. hired John Woods as executive vice president and CFO, effective Feb. 13, 2017.

He will succeed interim CFO John Fawcett, effective March 4, 2017.

Woods was previously CFO of New York-based MUFG Americas Holdings Corp., where Johannes Worsoe took his place.

Worsoe, who was previously the head of investment banking and markets at the organization, will also serve as CFO of MUFG Union Bank NA.

Beverly Hills, Calif.-based PacWest Bancorp named Bart Olson executive vice president and chief accounting officer, replacing Lynn Hopkins, who is set to resign.

Olson served as a managing director in the CFO division of Credit Suisse Group AG.

Robert Tarter was named nonexecutive chairman of the board of New York-based Carver Bancorp Inc. and its unit Carver Federal Savings Bank.

Tarter will replace Deborah Wright, who will retire, effective Jan. 1, 2017.

Wright and Tarter have been members of the board since 1999 and 2006, respectively.

Midlothian, Va.-based Village Bank and Trust Financial Corp. promoted Jay Hendricks, who had been the bank's chief credit officer, to chief risk officer and COO, Richmond BizSense reported.

The bank also named Price Beazley senior vice president and chief technology officer, according to the report.

Bezley previously served as online channels and cloud architect at McLean, Va.-based Capital One Financial Corp.

Myrtle Beach, S.C.-based Coastal Carolina National Bank, a unit of Coastal Carolina Bancshares Inc., named senior vice president Chris McElhinny chief credit officer, following the company's acquisition of Aiken, S.C.-based VistaBank.

Dec. 13

Alesia Haas, former CFO and head of strategy at OneWest Bank NA, now known as CIT Bank NA, has moved on to Och-Ziff Capital Management Group LLC to serve as the latter's CFO.

CIT Group acquired IMB HoldCo LLC, the parent company of OneWest Bank NA, in August.

Saginaw, Mich.-based United Financial Credit Union named executive vice president Barbara Appold president and CEO.

Appold will replace David Cibulka, who is retiring March 31, 2017.

Dec. 12

Charles Mallon Jr. has resigned as president and CEO of Oakton, Va.-based Congressional Federal Credit Union to become president and CEO of Chesapeake, Va.-based ABNB Federal Credit Union.

CFO Anthony Caccese has been appointed interim CEO while the credit union looks for a new president and CEO.

Dec. 11

First Federal Community Bank of Bucyrus President and CEO Phillip Gerber is set to retire, effective Dec. 31.

He will continue to be a director of the Bucyrus, Ohio-based bank.

Vice president and regional executive Bradley Murtiff was promoted to executive vice president and will become president and CEO upon Gerber's retirement.

The bank is a unit of Community Investors Bancorp Inc.

Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Truliant Federal Credit Union appointed Sandeep Uthra chief technology officer. Uthra is a former senior vice president and business solution technology executive at Bank of America Corp.

Dec. 10

Laconia, N.H.-based Bank of New Hampshire named Paul Falvey its next president and CEO, succeeding Mark Primeau.

Falvey was previously president and CEO of Edgartown, Mass.-based Martha's Vineyard Savings Bank.

Primeau, who became Bank of New Hampshire's president and CEO in 2008, will remain as a director of the BNH Financial unit after his retirement.

Dec. 9

Vancouver, Wash.-based Columbia Credit Union named Joey Rudisill senior vice president and chief information officer, effective Nov. 15.

Rudisill is the founder of XD3V, which helps small businesses develop technology strategies and build e-commerce solutions.

Dec. 8

Beaverton, Ore.-based Rivermark Community Credit Union named Nick Hodson CFO, according to a press release posted on

The company also named Rob Mills chief technology officer and Seth Schaefer chief experience officer.
