Telecom Italia signs TV content deal with Mediaset

Italian media giant Mediaset SpA has signed a deal making its free-to-air channels available to customers of Telecom Italia SpA's video-on-demand service TIMvision, Telecom Italia said May 10.

Mediaset content added to the TIMvision platform includes Canale 5, Italia 1 and Rete 4's online programming and free-to-air channels La5, TGCOM24, Mediaset Extra, 20, Iris, Italia 2, Top Crime and Focus.

TIMvision subscribers will also receive access to Mediaset programming from the previous seven days.

Most of the new content will be available in January 2019, with Focus accessible in mid-May.

The agreement comes after discussions on a deal were approved by Telecom Italia's board in December 2017.

Telecom Italia signed a deal with Radiotelevisione Italiana SpA's Rai Cinema in February 2017 and said in October 2017 that it will team up with Vivendi SA's Canal Plus Group SA on premium video content.
