Peabody Energy names interim CFO as Amy Schwetz prepares to leave company

Peabody Energy Corp. named Mark Spurbeck interim CFO to replace Amy Schwetz, who is leaving the company for a "leading NYSE-listed industrial company," according to a Jan. 8 release.

Schwetz, who served as the company's CFO for five years, will stay on board for the next few weeks to help with the transition. Peabody President and CEO Glenn Kellow said the company started a selection process for her permanent replacement.

Spurbeck, who most recently served as chief accounting officer at Peabody, has more than 20 years of accounting and financial experience, the company said. He served as vice president of finance and chief accounting officer at Coeur Mining Inc. before joining Peabody in early 2018. He also previously worked for Newmont Goldcorp Corp., First Data Corp. and Deloitte LLP.

Spurbeck is a certified public accountant and has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Hillsdale College in Michigan.
