Allegheny Technologies Inc. commissioned its STAL 3 plant in Shanghai to further extend its 20-year STAL joint venture with China Baowu Steel Group Corp. Ltd.

The previous expansion was completed in 2007 with the addition of the STAL 2 plant, the company noted March 14.

The STAL 3 expansion will result in an approximate 65% increase in capacity for the joint venture, which was formed in 1995 and focuses on the production of precision stainless steel products for China and the Asian markets.
