Australian BauxiteLtd. said April 12 that it completed the maiden sale of 5,000 tonnesof cement-grade bauxite from its Bald Hill mine, part of its Tasmania operations in Australia, and that shippingwill start from April 18.
According to the statement, the customer is also looking fora larger shipment of 30,000 tonnes to 40,000 tonnes following approval of the stockpilesites on the receiving port.
In January, the company temporarily suspended production and haulage of bauxite products at theBald Hill project, after failing to secure buyers for its first shipment of thealuminum-making material.
The company noted that routine rehabilitation and small tonnagesales of bauxite ex-mine will continue and that the mine can quickly restart productionwithout delay after irrevocable sales contracts are finalized.
