Exelon, 7 subsidiaries file automatic shelf

Exelon Corp. and seven of its subsidiaries filed an automatic shelf registration statement for the potential sale of an unspecified amount of securities from time to time.

The Aug. 30 filing covers the sale of debt securities; common, preferred and depositary shares; stock purchase contracts; and stock purchase units by Exelon.

It also covers the sale of debt securities by Exelon Generation Co. LLC, Commonwealth Edison Co., PECO Energy Co., Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., Potomac Electric Power Co., Delmarva Power & Light Co. and Atlantic City Electric Co.

The companies intend to use net proceeds from the sale of the securities for general corporate purposes, including to discharge or refund outstanding long-term debt.
