Nuclear update: Returning generation pushes US output above 95%

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability moved above the 95%level early July 14 to 95.29%, climbing from 94.71% on July 13 but still lower thanthe 96.49% reported on the same day a year ago.

Helping to push total availability higher was the fullreturn of Duke Energy Corp.'sBrunswick 2 in North Carolina. The unit bounced back to 100% power early July 14,after being pegged at 76% on July 13. In addition, output at American Electric Power Co. Inc.'s Donald C. Cook 2 plantin Michigan increased to 90% early July 14, up from 47% the day prior.

On the flipside, TennesseeValley Authority's Watts Bar 2 in Tennessee saw production decreaseto 30% early July 14, down from 46% on July 13.
