Japan's core consumer price growth, excluding fresh food prices, slowed to 0.7% year over year in April before seasonal adjustment, compared to 0.9% year over year in March, data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications showed.
Minus fresh food and energy items, prices grew by 0.4% in April compared to the same period in 2017, slipping by 0.1% from March.
The consumer price index in April was 100.9, reflecting an annual increase of 0.6% before seasonal adjustment, and a decrease of 0.4% from the prior month on a seasonally adjusted basis.
