Amazon.com Inc. will create 2,000 more permanent contract positions in France in 2018, Reuters reported, citing a company statement.
The e-commerce company also plans to open a 142,000-square-foot delivery warehouse in the country within the year.
It currently has 5,500 permanent staff in France, which is Amazon's third-largest market in Europe after the U.K. and Germany. Since 2010, the online retailer has spent more than €2 billion on its French expansion, which includes Amazon Prime Now express delivery and five logistics centers, the report said.
The development comes over a week after the Seattle-based e-commerce giant settled a tax dispute with French authorities, who sought almost €200 million from the company.
