Real estate investment trust EPR Properties enlarged its board to nine members from eight and appointed Virginia Shanks an independent trustee, effective May 30.

Shanks will also serve on the board's audit committee and compensation and human capital committee. Shanks is a board member of Altria Group Inc. and a strategic adviser for Penn National Gaming Inc.

Additionally, the REIT said its board amended the company's bylaws, effective May 30, to increase the number of committee members required to make up a quorum of the committee to a majority from one-third of the members.
