Loblaw Cos. Ltd.-owned Real Canadian Superstore said Oct. 4 that its same-day delivery service offered through online grocery delivery provider Instacart is being expanded to Winnipeg.
The Canadian retailer said the move makes the delivery service available to more than half of Canadian households. It is in line with the George Weston Ltd.-owned company's plans to expand its online grocery business this year, including rolling out its home delivery service to more markets across Canada.
Ontario-based Loblaw began offering grocery deliveries through San Francisco-based Instacart in December 2017, initially debuting in the Toronto area before expanding to Vancouver, British Columbia, and other Canadian markets this year. The service delivers online orders in as little as one hour.
Instacart has also partnered with Walmart Inc.'s Canadian operations and in September started providing delivery services for the retail chain in Toronto and Winnipeg.
