Cypress Creek Renewables completes construction on 78.5-MW NC solar project

Cypress Creek Renewables LLC has completed construction on a 78.5-MW solar plant in Cumberland County, N.C., adding to a portfolio expected to exceed 1 GW by the end of the year.

Cypress Creek Renewables on Dec. 20 announced the construction milestone for its Innovative Solar 46 Project. In addition to being the largest completed project in the California solar developer's portfolio, the plant is "considered the single largest solar farm ever built east of the Mississippi River," according to the company.

The Innovative Solar 46 project was developed in partnership with Entropy Investment Management LLC, a Charlotte, N.C.-headquartered clean energy investment company, and will sell its output through a 15-year power purchase agreement with Duke Energy Corp. subsidiary Duke Energy Progress LLC.

Cypress Creek Renewables is developing a robust portfolio of solar projects in North Carolina. The developer has announced plans to build at least 1,000 MW of solar capacity in North Carolina this year alone.
