Nuclear update: Total output nudges higher as more generation returns

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability took anothersmall step forward early Sept. 28 to 88.39%, up from 88.13% on Sept. 27 butstill below the 88.63% reported on the same day in 2015.

Supporting total production was 's Watts Bar2 in Tennessee, which was at 100% power early Sept. 28, rising from 70% onSept. 27.

In addition, two of Exelon Corp.'s reactors in Illinois saw increasedoutput. Its Byron 1 was pegged at 92% early Sept. 28, climbing from 76% onSept. 27, while production at its Clinton Power Station increased from 82% onSept. 27 to 94% early Sept. 28.

Conversely, output at 's Callaway plant inMissouri decreased from 100% on Sept. 27 to 65% early Sept. 28.
