France asks Microsoft not to collect excessive user data

National Data Protection Commission, the data protection authorityin France,has served Microsoft Corp.a formal notice to stop it from collecting excessive data from users without consent,Reuters reported July 20.

The company has reportedly been given three months to complywith the French law and "to stop collecting excessive data and tracking browsingby users without their consent."
