The Mississippi Insurance Department will be tasked withsupervising ridesharing services in the state after Gov. Phil Bryant signed anew bill into law, The Associated Press reported April 7.
The legislation requires ridesharing companies to pay $5,000in yearly license fees and calls for drivers to have insurance of up to $1million while transporting passengers.
In addition, the law requires companies to do criminalbackground checks on drivers and display a driver's picture and license platenumber online before they pick a passenger.
