Barclays rejects US DOJ claims

Barclays Plc on Dec. 22 rejected the U.S. Department of Justice's accusations of fraud in selling U.S. residential mortgage-backed securities.

The DOJ the same day filed a lawsuit in federal court in the Eastern District of New York against Barclays Bank Plc and several of its U.S. affiliates.

Barclays said the claims made "are disconnected from the facts," adding that it plans to seek the complaint's dismissal as soon as possible.
