Wall Street moves through Oct. 11

Oct. 11

Wedbush Securities Inc. named Dan Billings as executive vice president and CFO. Billings previously was senior vice president and controller.


Credit Suisse hired equity analyst Andrew Kligerman as a managing director to cover life insurance companies.

Oct. 10

HighTower launched The Keith Group, a Lebanon, Pa.-based private wealth management practice overseeing $230 million in client assets. The team is led by Managing Director Kevin Keith, who earlier worked with Merrill Lynch.


Goldman Sachs Group Inc. named Jeff Wecker chief data officer, The Wall Street Journal reported. Wecker was most recently with Bridgewater Associates LP. Goldman also hired Michael Blum for its electronic-trading group.


Benjamin F. Edwards & Co. Inc. hired 14 advisers for three new offices in Georgia and Arkansas and for existing offices elsewhere who brought nearly $1.32 billion in assets under management combined.


Oscar Gruss & Son Inc. hired Eric Laumann as head of North American risk arbitrage research. Laumann previously worked in various roles, including as head of risk arbitrage at KCG.


NMS Capital Advisors LLC named Robert Maley president and head of investment banking. Maley previously worked with Gilford Securities Inc.

Monaghan Wealth Management of Wilson, N.C., joined broker/dealer Capital Investment Cos. Capital Investment Cos. comprises Capital Investment Brokerage Inc., Capital Investment Group Inc., Capital Investment Counsel Inc., Capital Investment Advisory Services LLC and other affiliates.

Oct. 6

James Huffines is retiring from Hilltop Holdings Inc., where he is a board member and the subsidiaries' COO. Huffines oversees Hilltop Securities Inc., National Lloyds Insurance Co., and PlainsCapital Bank and PrimeLending a PlainsCapital Co.


Cowen Inc. appointed Douglas Nelson and Michael DeJarnette as co-heads of its U.S. prime brokerage services business. Both Nelson and DeJarnette joined Cowen through its acquisition of Convergex Group LLC.


Veteran equity research analyst Peyton Green has moved to Piper Jaffray Cos.' investment banking side, S&P Global Market Intelligence reported.

Oct. 5

HighTower launched the True Wealth Advisory Group, a Miami-based practice that manages $500 million in assets. The practice is led by founder and CEO Marc Shachtman, who earlier worked at JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s J.P. Morgan Private Bank.
