The European Union plans to invest more than €46 million to improve reliability in the Czech Republic's electric transmission system.
The investment, allocated out of the European Regional Development Fund, will help upgrade and extend the electricity substation of Kočín, in the region of southern Bohemia, by November 2023.
Additionally, the extension of the Kočín substation will support two other projects that will increase the Czech Republic's access to mainly wind energy from Germany and solar power from Italy: the connection of a second circuit on the existing Kočín-Preštice transmission line and the new 120-km Kočín-Mírovka overhead line, according to a Sept. 16 news release.
