Duke EnergyProgress LLC is seeking to lower fuel rates for its customers inSouth Carolina, effective July 1.
In a filing with South Carolina regulators, the subsidiaryproposed a $2.77 drop in monthly fuel rates for residential customers. Ifapproved, monthly bills for residential customers would drop to $102.00 from$104.77.
Commercial customers would see a decrease of about 2.9%, andindustrial customers would see a drop about 4.5% in the fuel charge, accordingto an April 29 statement.
The proposed decrease is driven by lower projected coal andgas fuel prices and an $11.2 million decrease in the prior period true-up offuel costs, the company said.
