TotalU.S. nuclear plant availability rose early April 12 to 85.25%, up from 84.94% onApril 11 and well above the 81.95% level noted on the same day a year ago.

Proppingup total availability was the full return of Exelon Corp.'s Quad Cities 1 in Illinois. The unit was operatingat 100% power early April 12, rising from 87% on April 11.

's North Anna2 in Virginia saw production increase to 72% early April 12. The plant was peggedat 48% the day prior.

Lookingahead, private sources indicate that DukeEnergy Corp.'s Oconee 3 in South Carolina and Public Service Enterprise Group Inc.'s Salem 1 in New Jerseymay be shut in the next few days for planned seasonal work. As of early April 12,Oconee 3 was at 99% while Salem 1 operating at full output.
