Nissan Motor fiscal Q2 profit climbs 63.4% YOY

Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 was ¥26.40 per share, an increase of 63.4% from ¥16.16 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥110.65 billion, an increase of 63.4% from ¥67.74 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin increased to 4.1% from 2.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 6.2% year over year to ¥2.679 trillion from ¥2.523 trillion, and total operating expenses rose 5.4% year over year to ¥2.540 trillion from ¥2.409 trillion.

Reported net income grew 15.8% year over year to ¥124.87 billion, or ¥29.79 per share, from ¥107.81 billion, or ¥25.72 per share.

As of Nov. 6, US$1 was equivalent to ¥114.72.
