Transocean Ltd. announced June 4 it had appointed Senior Vice President of Operations Keelan Adamson to assume the responsibilities of retiring Executive Vice President, COO and Chief Performance Officer John Stobart, effective June 1.
Stobart joined the firm in October 2012, roughly two years and five months after the April 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster, which occurred at a drilling rig owned by the firm.
"Under John's leadership, Transocean re-established itself as the standard for excellence, delivering industry-leading performance in safety, uptime and drilling efficiency," Transocean president and CEO Jeremy Thigpen said. "As a direct result of John's unwavering commitment to both operational performance and procedural discipline, and to the development of next-generation leadership, I have every confidence that Transocean will continue to build upon the solid foundation that John helped to establish."
According to S&P Capital IQ, Adamson joined the firm in 1995 as an operations engineer, and was managing director of Transocean's North America division from December 2008 to November 2010, having responsibility for operations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, Canada and Trinidad. Since then, Adamson has held leadership positions with responsibility for engineering, human resources and operations at the firm.
