Resource Generation Ltd. posted an updated reserves and resources statement for its preproduction-stage Boikarabelo coal property in South Africa.
The company has a 74% interest in the property, with black economic empowerment entity Fairy Wing Trading 136 (Pty.) Ltd. holding the remainder.
According to Resource Generation's Jan. 23 statement, the updated estimate relates specifically to the Ledjadja #1 and #3 zones, where an optimized mine design was completed.
The two zones host probable reserves of 267.1 million tonnes, down from 430.6 million tonnes previously, while measured and indicated resources were estimated at 994.8 million tonnes, up from 664.2 million tonnes.
Reserves and resources at the Ledjadja #1 and #2 zones and at the Waterberg #1 deposit will also be reviewed and updated this year, the company said.
Altogether, Boikarabelo hosts reserves totaling 581.3 million tonnes, with resources totaling 3.71 billion tonnes.
Resource Generation noted that the run of mine total of 616.9 million tonnes indicates a mine life of more than 40 years at an annual production rate of 15.1 million tonnes.
