Japan producer price index up 0.2% in September

Japan's producer price index inched up 0.2% to 99.0 month over month in September, after holding steady in August, preliminary figures from the Bank of Japan showed Oct. 12.

On an annual basis, the index rose 3.0% in September compared with a 2.9% increase in the previous month.

Excluding extra charges for summer electricity, the index was up 0.2% month over month in September compared with a 0.1% increase in August.

On a contract currency basis, the export price index held steady at 0.6% month over month in September, while the import price index rose 1.2%.
