Hawaii conditionally approves T-Mobile/Sprint deal

The Public Utilities Commission of Hawaii has conditionally approved the proposed merger between T-Mobile US Inc. and Sprint Corp.

The commission believes the deal will not harm competition for wireless services in Hawaii but will increase competition and create benefits for those customers in the state, according to a May 30 regulatory filing.

The companies filed the application July 6, 2018, following up with a proposed stipulated procedural order Sept. 10, 2018.

The companies now only require approval from California and the U.S. Justice Department to close the deal.
