E.ON SE announced Feb. 19 that it has begun construction of the 57-MW Morcone wind farm in Benevento, Italy, near Naples.
Morcone was the largest project awarded by the Italian government at a 2016 energy auction, according to a news release. Danish manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S will deliver 19 turbines of the 3-MW class at the site. E.ON said it expects the project to begin operations during the first quarter of 2019.
E.ON owns and operates 10 wind plants with a combined capacity of approximately 330 MW in Italy.
