Hong Yi Fiber profit misses consensus by 15.3% in Q1

Hong Yi Fiber Ind. Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the first quarter came to 40 Taiwan cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 47 cents per share.

EPS increased year over year from 17 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was NT$53.0 million, a gain from NT$22.2 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 9.2% from 4.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 9.8% on an annual basis to NT$576.5 million from NT$525.0 million, and total operating expenses came to NT$493.6 million, compared with NT$492.9 million in the year-earlier period.

Reported net income rose on an annual basis to NT$87.8 million, or 66 cents per share, from NT$38.6 million, or 29 cents per share.

As of May 5, US$1 was equivalent to NT$30.68.
