Algold Resources Ltd. said June 7 that a regional rock chip sampling program on its Tijirit property in Mauritania led to the discovery of two new zones of mineralization, with assays returning up to 79.5 g/t of gold.
The first new zone is a structure measuring 1.5 kilometers in length, located 5 kilometers northeast of the Eleonore zone at Tijirit, while the second is a vein system potentially measuring 2 kilometers in length, about 7 kilometers to the south of defined Eleonore mineralization.
Algold completed geological mapping and rock chip sampling in April, while also working on an ongoing 25,000-meter drill program.
The company posted an updated resource estimate for Tijirit in May, which more than doubled inferred resources in terms of contained ounces.
