Washington Real Estate Investment Trust's shareholders voted to approve a pair of proposed amendments to the company's declaration of trust.

One amendment gives shareholders the right to change the company's bylaws via a majority vote. The other amendment declassifies the REIT's board of trustees and changes the term of elected trustees to one year.

The amendments were approved at Washington REIT's annual stockholder meeting June 1.
