Yakult Honsha fiscal Q3 profit climbs YOY

Yakult Honsha Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2016, amounted to ¥57.87 per share, an increase from ¥56.67 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥9.57 billion, an increase from ¥9.37 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 9.4% from 8.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue declined on an annual basis to ¥102.14 billion from ¥105.53 billion, and total operating expenses declined on an annual basis to ¥88.07 billion from ¥91.86 billion.

Reported net income increased on an annual basis to ¥11.82 billion, or ¥71.48 per share, from ¥11.33 billion, or ¥68.53 per share.

As of Feb. 13, US$1 was equivalent to ¥113.90.
