FPL asks FERC to approve $451M purchase of Fla. coal-fired plant

Florida Power& Light Co.'s intent to acquire the facility has reachedFERC, with parties involved seeking federal approval by Sept. 13 to consummatethe transaction.

The NextEraEnergy Inc. subsidiary will buy the coal-fired plant for $451million from Ares EIF ManagementLLC subsidiary Calypso Energy Holdings LLC, including existingdebt, according to an application filed July 13.

The utility plans to eventually the facility.(Docket No. EC16-148)
