Nexstar Media Group Inc.'s WGN America (US) cable network will launch a live daily three-hour national newscast beginning this summer.
Called "News Nation," the newscast will air in prime time, from 8 p.m. ET to 11 p.m. ET, telecasting breaking news and live video on stories and issues impacting regional and local communities throughout the U.S., according to a Jan. 15 news release. The program will broadcast live from the newsroom and studio at WGN-TV in Chicago.
Jennifer Lyons, who was promoted to vice president of news for WGN America, will oversee the newscast, which will also deliver 24-hour news online through digital properties as well as a soon-to-be-launched mobile app.
