The U.K.'s governing Conservative Party had leads over the opposition Labour Party ranging from 13 percentage points to only 1 percentage point in opinion polls published June 8, the day of the country's general election.
Support for the Conservatives ranged from 46% to 41% in the polls, while Labour had from 40% to 33%. The Liberal Democrats had as much as 10% in one poll, while the United Kingdom Independence Party and the Greens were in single figures in all the surveys.
