Gascoyne names nonexecutive chairman

Gascoyne Resources Ltd. tapped two former gold mining executives as newest members of its board.

The company named ex-Gold Road Resources Ltd. CEO and Managing Director Ian Murray as as nonexecutive chairman, and former Evolution Mining Ltd. COO Mark Le Messurier as nonexecutive director.

Mike Joyce, who steps down as chairman, will continue as a nonexecutive director. Directors Graham Riley and Stan Macdonald have also brought forward their retirements to facilitate the two new appointments.

The appointments reflect Gascoyne's transition from a junior explorer to an Australia-focused gold miner, the company said in an Oct. 8 release.

Gascoyne recently reported highest-ever gold grades at its Dalgaranga gold project in Western Australia, and plans to raise approximately A$19 million while targeting A$5 million more as the project ramps up to full production.
