Microsoft confirms closure, job cuts at Finnish mobile phone unit

MicrosoftCorp. confirmed that it will shutter its mobile phone subsidiary inFinland,as well as slash 1,350 jobs in the country, Reuters reported July 11.

The job cuts are part of Microsoft's to streamline its smartphonebusiness by slashing 1,850 positions worldwide.

Microsoft acquiredthe mobile device businessfrom Nokia Corp. in2014.
