Royal Bank ofScotland Group Plc wants to cut about 600 retail bank jobs andclose 32 branches in the U.K., Bloomberg News reported April 14, citing asame-day statement from trade union Unite.
The move will reportedly affect about 200 jobs in London andthe southeast of England, as well as 400 positions in the Midlands and the eastand north of England.
A spokesman for RBS said the job cuts were a response tochanging consumer demands, Bloomberg added.
The bank could also cut a similar number of jobs inScotland, Wales and southwest England, two people with knowledge of the mattertold the news agency.
