China Natural Resources purchases copper smelter in Bolivia

China Natural Resources Inc. acquired a copper smelter in Bolivia with a designed annual production capacity of 3,000 tonnes of copper cathodes.

The company completed the acquisition of Planta Metalurgica Antay Pacha SA, which is completing licensing and permitting processes.

The purchase price of about US$1.5 million included US$1.4 million of debt payable on demand, the company said on Dec. 23.

A trial run is anticipated in the second quarter of 2017, and commercial production is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2017.
