Adient opens new auto parts plant in Morocco

Irish auto parts and equipment company Adient PLC said May 25 that it is opening its first-ever plant in Morocco to expand its fabrics business and establish its market position in the region.

Based in Kenitra, the plant will focus on fabric lamination for automotive seating.

"The plant's strategic position will make it easier for us to serve our customers both in northern Africa and southern Europe," said Jef Vercammen, vice president global fabrics, Adient.

The move will also open employment opportunities for local talent and serve customers such as Renault SA, Peugeot SA, Bayerische Motoren Werke AGand Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.

The production is set to start by the end of May.
