SSP Group PLC said Dec. 17 that it secured an eight-year contract to increase the number of its outlets at Barcelona's El Prat Airport from two to seven.

As part of the more than €200 million deal, SSP will operate franchised restaurants such as Pannus, Michelin star chefs Javier and Sergio Torres' Alas fine dining restaurant, Slam and Cooofebar. The new restaurants, set to open in May 2019, will join Starbucks Corp. and La Tramoia, which opened in November and October, respectively.

SSP said it has secured an airport deal in Madrid for the first time but did not disclose financial details.

In September, SSP secured an eight-year contract to operate 10 restaurants at Spain's Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Airport.
